The recent changes add a new trigram index to the postgres db. Unless your db user has superuser rights, you will need to add the needed extension manually. Running the migration will tell you what to run, so just follow those instructions.

@lain I'm somewhat surprised that it did ts_vector stuff (including stemming, etc) on user names before. n-grams + index makes a lot more sense for that 👍. The status content search [1] doesn't seem to have an index yet. A GIN index might make sense there.
