Deleted my keybase account. You can find my PGP key on keyservers and at drewdevault.com/publickey.txt

@sir i think i might still have one. good reminder to delete.

@sir What made you decide to? I've been considering it for a while haven't done it yet.

@amolith it's just another platform of proprietary garbage trying to capture free software & standards

@sir I did find it useful for verifying my account with Archive.org but, other than that, it's pretty much useless imo. The apps are slow, chat is slow, I don't need their git storage, I don't need their files, there are much better implementations of "team" stuff, etc. etc.

@amolith @sir wondering the same. while i hate what keybase is doing lately, it is still good for its original purpose (verifying against DNS records and certain other online accounts)

i'd appreciate a foss solution to this that doesnt depend on a single service like keybase. keyservers dont cut it, and nobody bothers to sign one another's keys

@sir did keybase do something exceptionally stupid recently, or is it something you've wanted to do for a while?

@sir Some day I'm going to learn what public keys are for... and/or have a reason to need to know someone's.

@brandon it's just another platform of proprietary garbage trying to capture free software & standards

@sir I thought keybase *is* free software :S Did I miss something?

@brandon @sir Only the client is free. They keep the server implementation to themselves

@sir what kills me is that a business around an open source keybase seems utterly possible, if not fortune making

@sir that's a clever thing to do. I like it
