There is no reason whatsoever to have Windows installed on your computer. You should not have Windows installed on your computer. If you have Windows installed on any computer you own then you have fucked up.
@lain I can't get off unless the VR sex is free as in freedom
@sir Why are you subtooting me?
@ink_slinger I have no idea who you are.
@sir I know. It was a joke because I have Windows on my computer, even though I never even go into my Windows partition.
@ink_slinger delete it, resize filesystem to reclaim the space
@sir I should. Literally the only reason I still have it is because the tax software I used to use doesn't have a Linux version. But I used a web-based one this year, so I have literally no reason to keep Windows at this point.
@314 easiest unfollow all day
Can't agree more
@sir what is most disturbing: Windows users think I am forcing them to use something else when I decide not to support them.
@sir I do use it to play games almost exclusively. How would I cure that issue?
@sneakycrow play games that run on Linux, or tabletop games with friends, or read books, or do something productive
@firstname.lastname@example.org @email@example.com while free as in freedom software is ideal, most proprietary Windows games are playable on Linux because of Codeweavers' and Valve's non-proprietary effort with Proton, and DXVK. The only major exceptions are certain games with harmful DRM, and not all games with DRM fall under that.
@firstname.lastname@example.org @email@example.com I agree (I don't play video games), though Valve has been using it to get a gauge on Linux users as a whole, and some companies are explicitly making efforts to ensure their games work well under Proton. Given the low quality of most games programmers, I see it as a workable compromise, and better than no option at all.
@sir well, I'll let you try to convince my wife to switch 🙃
@sir What if I need 3D graphics applications that are not running on Linux?
@plfiorini you need food, water, and shelter
@sir This means you don't need your computer either, turn it off now! :)
@user517 no excuse, you heard me
@sir Blindness. Linux accessibility for blindness is a joke.
@pyrolagus don't entirely agree but don't want to explain the lengthy rationale
@sir I've got a point though. The entire Linux ecosystem is so fragmented, and many devs don't even bother to use xdg dirs rather than hardcoding paths. And the GUI situation is so much worse. Good luck getting them to write accessible software. (Although I guess it's fine if you just stick to GNOME stuff.) And the application ecosystem isn't the only shitty thing. Apparently, the audio is so shitty and laggy that it's hard to use screenreaders at high speeds without custom compiling a linux kernel with libsonic and tuning the shit out of it.
I'm already not a fan of the moralizing stuff, but some people really don't have much of a choice.
